A Working Week at Deep Creek Lake
Deep Creek Lake is a good place to work for a week, in any season. Every Loch & Laurel stay is set up for work, with fast internet, privacy, and your dog stays free. Between calls there are trails for a morning or lunch-hour walk with the dog, a paddle at midday in summer, a brewery patio at sunset and, in winter, night skiing at Wisp.

Every season
Each season gives a working week something of its own. Summer has the lake for an hour at midday. Fall has color on every walk, peaking in mid-October. Winter has the slopes at Wisp, lit after dark. Spring has the waterfalls running full.
The working day
A walk with the dog before the first call, a loop under the trees at lunch, and the laptop shut in time for the sunset.
Your working day
Before the first call
A historic homestead on the Youghiogheny River at Sang Run, past the north end of the lake. More than 2.5 miles of trail wind through wildflower meadows and past champion trees, with benches along the river. Leashed dogs are welcome, and a loop here wakes you both up before the laptop opens. Parts of the park are hunted in season, Monday through Saturday, so wear orange in the fall.

Good to know
Phone signal is usually good in McHenry and Oakland and along Route 219, and fades in the river valleys and deep in the state forests. Garrett County is the highest ground in Maryland, and now and then a winter storm brings lines down. Potomac Edison posts outages and restoration estimates on its map.
